Destination Congo is proud to announce the pre launch of the Banayapoto initiative, an exciting new initiative designed to reconnect members of the Congolese diaspora and adventure seekers with the vibrant culture, breathtaking landscapes, and rich heritage of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Founded by passionate members of the Congolese diaspora, Destination Congo aims to bridge the gap between second-generation Congolese living abroad and their ancestral homeland. The initiative focuses on organizing guided visits to the DRC, offering immersive experiences that highlight the country's unique attractions, from its bustling cities and serene villages to its majestic wildlife and stunning natural beauty.
Kazadi Mwamba, Co- Founder of Destination Congo, shares his enthusiasm for the launch: "We are thrilled to launch Destination Congo and provide an opportunity for the Congolese diaspora and other adventurers to experience the incredible culture and natural wonders of the DRC. This initiative is about more than just travel; it's about reconnecting with our roots, preserving our heritage, and fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of what the DRC has to offer."
The Banayapoto initiative, a key component of Destination Congo, focuses on engaging with the Congolese diaspora through interviews and stories that highlight their views and experiences. This initiative aims to create a sense of community and shared identity among those who have not yet had the chance to visit the Congo, as well as those who are eager to return.
Destination Congo’s inaugural guided visit is scheduled for June 2025, taking participants to the capital city, Kinshasa. The itinerary promises a thrilling mix of activities and events, including visits to tourist attractions, art exhibitions, museums, iconic landmarks, and the famous nightlife of Kinshasa.
By launching Destination Congo, the founders hope to inspire a new wave of tourism that not only boosts the local economy but also strengthens the bonds between the Congolese diaspora and their homeland.
